Description

The Agronomist reports to the Business Development Manager and is accountable for supporting existing markets and assisting with developing new markets through promoting the concept and agronomy relating to drip irrigation, advising on research and identifying and taking advantage of new opportunities.

Can be located in either Northern VIC or Southern NSW.

 

Requirments:

SUMMARY
The Agronomist reports to the Business Development Manager and is accountable for supporting existing markets and assisting with developing new markets through promoting the concept and agronomy relating to drip irrigation, advising on research and identifying and taking advantage of new opportunities.

The Agronomist will have a key role in developing and maintaining relationships with relevant private and government bodies and will provide a strong communication link between technical support, sales and dealers as well as working with growers to promote viable drip irrigation practices.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Promote the agronomic concept, principles and practices of drip irrigation to all parties involved in the irrigation business (Extension Officers, Co-ops, Fertiliser and Private Agronomists).


2. Foster strong working relationships with relevant government bodies, research institutions, fertilizer companies, and relevant private corporations.


3. Manage and monitor trials, including the processes involved with developing a trial and also managing approved trials for their duration.


4. Provide sound agronomic advice for the use of drip irrigation, assisting clients in the planning, operation and maintenance of drip systems.


5. Establish and facilitate links with those groups with an interest in agronomic information such as researchers, extension officers etc.


6. Visit potential projects to provide advice on the principles of drip i.e. spacing, delivery, scheduling, and fertigation.


7. Accompany sales staff on client visits to provide advice on drip irritation and its advantages.


8. Regularly visit fertiliser companies and producers to discuss trends in the marketplace and determine ways in which Netafim and these companies can work together.


9. Provide operation guidelines and after sales operation support to clients i.e. scheduling.


10. Represent Netafim Australia as required to present at seminars, symposiums, forums and conferences.


11. Provide written summaries of all activities undertaken for the purposes of developing a database of knowledge and communication between all relevant parties.

 

Research:

12. Consult with relevant researchers and research institutes with regard to planning materials, field trends and research results.

 

13. Initiate and support trials and research, in line with the company objectives in those crops with a strategic focus.

 

14. Maintain contact with the agronomic fraternity to ensure information relevant to the irrigation business is obtained.

 

15. Communicate with Netafim Corporate Agronomy team to maintain an up-to-date database of relevant research material.

Requirments:

The Irrigation Designer works in a team and shares responsibilities for some tasks as allocated from time to time.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Undertake professional design works as allocated from enquiry receiving, through specification and design, to production of "final output" (maps, bill of materials and component specifications, system costing, drawings, system technical description and any necessary documents).

2. Specify and design irrigation systems.

3. Master and operate the designated software for irrigation systems design.

4. Support sales & marketing as required in the presentation of proposals and offers to corporate customers.

 

5. Submit work to a professional standard, ensuring accuracy of the plans and proposals that are submitted to sales force and customers.

 

6. Manage the daily communication as necessary between designer, Netafim representative and client.

 

7. Comply with and maintain quality control procedures.

 

8. Support registered Irricad users via phone and internet

9. Promote and carry out System Reviews, with the objective of generating retrofit activity in established markets.

 

10. Visit existing irrigation project sites to assist with upgrading and improving their irrigation infrastructure via design-related actions.

13. Regular liaison and reporting as required to the State Manager. Liaising with Company’s head office and warehouse as required.
